In time all things will end, a reality will begin to break down, and must be restarted anew. These iterations of reality are typically referred to as Cycles. Little else is known of them, as few beings besides Pre-Cycle Protobeings are even aware of the concept, much less hold any knowledge of its function. Cycles typically end in an event known as the Twilight of the Stars in which the anomalies within the cycle will break free and begin to destroy the worlds within them. At some point, Goldenlake initializes the creation of a new cycle.

The events and laws of each cycle can vary drastically. and no two will be identical, however a number of concepts, known as Patterns, will be reused by Goldenlake across cycles. People are typically Patterns, and thus iterations of themselves will often exist across every cycle, however these iterations can range from nearly identical to barely recognizable aside from a couple core traits. Patterns can develop and change over time, although this typically takes many cycles to see notable change.
